Michigan Donated Dental Services provides help for those who are unable to afford dental care, mostly the elderly and chronically ill, who need extensive dental work done. The Michigan Donated Dental Services has locations all around Michigan and all applicants must match these criteria:
- Low income
- Needs extensive dental work
- No dental insurance
Now this means that if you are covered by such a program as Medicaid, then you must you all services available by that program. If there is extensive dental work not covered by the Medicaid or other program, then those services might be covered by the Michigan Donated Dental Services. Usually some sort of proof from the other organization's dentist, like Medicaid, is needed to cover a non-covered service.
In addition to matching all the criteria above, you must also be one of the following:
- Age 62 or older
- Permanently disabled
- Mentally ill
If you are eligible for the Michigan Donated Dental Services, all dental treatment is covered at no cost to the patient. This program is very active and has a long waiting list so if you qualify get your name in as quick as possible. There are no emergency dental services provided by the Michigan Donated Dental Services, you must wait on the waiting list. The program also has a side program called Dental HouseCalls, which allows disabled individuals who can not leave their house dental care.
